The storage/pump house is a brick building built in 1905. Initially, it was used from 1906 to 1914 as the steam-powered fan room to ventilate the air from the Manda Pit. It sits next to the pithead of the No. 2 Shaft. It stored a gigantic Walker fan to provide exhaust for the air inside the mine cavity. The fan blades were fixed at the center of the north side of the building, where traces of the fan such as the bearings still remain today. Fan ventilation had been originally done through the Ventilation Tower of this building but the Tower was later moved to the location where the current administration office is, and the building was then used for storage and as the pump house to convey water pumped up from the mine cavity for irrigation.
