“Gosoku no kutsu (Five pairs of shoes)” is a series of travel essays written in 1907 by five of Japan’s famous authors, including Tekkan Yosano and Hakushu Kitahara after their travels in Kyushu. In the essays they wrote about their visit to the Manda Pit and their experiences of going down to the mine cavity. Our ex-miner read aloud a part of the essays in the voice guide, so please listen to him and feel the traces of those five pairs of shoes.
