Steam-Powered Jack Engine

The steam-powered jack engine, thought to have been imported from the UK, remains here as just it used to be. The jack engine was used to move large amounts of unwanted soil to the ground level when the Shaft Pit. It was also used when replacing the wooden guide poles or wire ropes of the hoist machines later. There are cylinders still attached on the left and right sides of the hoist body. It is considered as the oldest steam-powered machine in Japan.
